LoJack, a wholly owned subsidiary of CalAmp, recently announced that its next-generation consumer telematics solutions will be available nationwide.
Through a combination of CalAmp core telematics services and LoJack stolen-vehicle recovery (SVR) technology, the LoJack brand is expanding across the United States, making SVR and enhanced telematics services such as CrashBoxx alerts available nationwide.
“These new connected-vehicle services will enable dealers to realize additional revenue streams through the next-generation LoJack telematics bundle with safety and security features to expedite crash response and help save lives all across the country,” the company said in a news release. “LoJack’s new generation of dual-mode telematics and SVR technology is the only offering that combines connected-car features and real-time crash management with the proven performance of the proprietary LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System supported directly by law enforcement agencies, according to the company.”
The advanced capabilities blend CrashBoxx instant crash alerts with benefits such as speed alerts, TripWire arrival notifications and trip history, all via the new LoJack SureDrive connected-car mobile application, according to the company. In the event of a collision, CrashBoxx will automatically notify the LoJack call center to help provide timely assistance and facilitate emergency response based on information about crash severity and other key technical details reported in real time.
Car owners can adjust personal preferences to receive notifications when exceeding safe driving conditions, thereby reducing driver risk. In addition, customers can opt in to allow dealers to receive vehicle diagnostic information for proactive response to maintenance and repair issues, according to Irvine, Calif.-based CalAmp.
“The latest LoJack technology greatly expands our footprint and provides dealers across the U.S. with telematics services that enhance the customer experience and help drive bottom line financial results,” said Michael Burdiek, president and CEO of CalAmp. “As consumers become more aware of what connected vehicle technology can offer, real-time data and analytics will be key to developing new value-added services that deliver increased revenue opportunities for dealers while providing peace of mind for their customers.”
CalAmp noted that it is collaborating with Together for Safer Roads to leverage connected-vehicle technology to minimize driver risk and help facilitate potentially life-saving emergency response.
“LoJack’s new connected-vehicle services and CrashBoxx technology is an important step forward in bringing solutions to market that help consumers develop better driving behaviors and improve post-crash response,” said David Braunstein, president of Together for Safer Roads. “Post-crash response is a key pillar we focus on in collaboration with automotive and technology industry leaders like CalAmp to create a measurable and sustainable impact in our drive to save lives.”
