Omnitracs recently announced a technology partnership with SkyBitz Inc., a provider of IoT telematics solutions.

Together, Omnitracs and SkyBitz “will offer customers a more extensive range of advanced fleet and trailer-tracking solutions, integrating technology and tools with greater data insight for fleet managers, dispatchers and drivers,” Omnitracs said in a news release.

Asset tracking and communication between connected vehicles – specifically tractors and trailers or containers – allows for a fleet to get near-real-time visibility into their fleet’s operations and reduce theft. Through this partnership, customers of both Omnitracs and SkyBitz will benefit from a purpose-built integration between platforms that will expedite the development of analytics and automation for fleet management, allowing for increased efficiency, according to Omnitracs.

“The Omnitracs partnership supports our mission of providing customers with end-to-end fleet and asset management solutions, increasing visibility from inside the cab through to the trailer, enabling commercial fleets to make decisions that positively impact their bottom line,” said Henry Popplewell, president of SkyBitz. “We are excited to bring this enriched technology to market with Omnitracs and look forward to collectively driving innovation in the transportation industry.”

With the new integrated trailer-tracking solutions, customers of Omnitracs and SkyBitz will benefit from access to a more robust range of solutions, greatly expanding the scope of assets and insights offered. They also will benefit from communication between in-cab and trailer telematics devices, providing drivers and back-office personnel immediate verification of tractor-trailer connections and catalyzing real-time data sharing between systems, according to Omnitracs.

“Through this partnership with SkyBitz, Omnitracs is furthering its commitment to working with industry-leading partners to provide paramount solutions to our customers and the market at large,” said Ray Greer, CEO at Omnitracs. “The integration with SkyBitz not only significantly advances the trailer tracking capabilities for customers but also allows us to continue to focus on the open platform strategy of Omnitracs One and the consolidation of data within the platform across applications.”
